STATE OF THE ART 2023 – the green edition

1 November 2023, 6 pm, sees the real space opening of the formerly digital only STATE OF THE ART series by galerie postel for the first time since its introduction in 2020. On JUPITER FIRST FLOOR, the current display of Hamburg’s galleries, 12 artists will join their works for an artistic discussion of climate and environmental issues. We are looking forward to:

Podiumsdiskussion: Zum Abschluss der Ausstellung laden wir am 10. November ab 18 Uhr zur Podiumsdiskussion ein, die vor dem Hintergrund aktueller Forschung Fragen zu Handlungsspielräumen, zum Beitrag der Kunst und zu den Möglichkeiten der Vermittlung wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse behandelt.

After the 2018 installation “Questioning the Personnel” at gallery postel and the print series of memory gaps, Katharina Kohl with her most recent works digs deeper into the subject of memory and the way it constitutes history. For the first time on public display at AUFATMEN.

With Pranjal Trivedi, astrophysicist and researcher at Hamburg Observatory, who will share insights into his work. He will be accompanied by Ben Nurgenç, artist and initiator of the FUTUREPROOF project, that had its first digital appearance at the beginning of the year @galeriepostel and its first analogue show @KraftwerkBille this summer.

State of the art is an annual digital exposition format by galerie postel. Initiated in 2020 its first edition showed recent works by the gallery’s artists. The 2021 edition takes the situation into focus: After a long period of social distancing due to the pandemic situation galerie postel has invited six artist to produce a work in collaboration or dialogue with a partner of their choice.
Artist working in sculpture, performance or conceptual art joined artists usually working in the field of photography, performance or painting, new media were experimented in, people who had known each other for ages collaborated for the first time, some joined in the production of one single work and others united different approaches to comment and discover similarities where a superficial approach would have found none.
In dialogue and collaboration you enter unknown terrain, leave comfort zones and discover a new side to yourself and your art. STATE OF THE ART 2021 Dialogues and Collaborations invites everyone to enter this new territory of communication.
